Our Story

Over the years, our family business has grown to produce our own beef, lamb and milk all of which we are proud to sell in our farmshop & butchers.

We pride ourselves on our exceptional farming practices as any farmer, chef, or food-lover will testify that the higher standard of farming, the better tasting the meat.

In addition to our thriving livestock farm, we also have an on-site cheese factory, run by the master cheese makers - The Trethowan Brothers. Our award-winning Jersey & Holstein Friesian Dairy Herd are milked on site and the milk is piped directly to the cheese factory where it is then processed using only traditional methods into the award-winning Pitchfork Cheddar and Gorwydd Caerphilly.

Alistair

Hello and welcome to Puxton Park Estate, my name is Alistair and I’m part of the Mead Family who have been farming in Somerset for over 200 years.
At Puxton Farm Estate, we are passionate about our animals, land, family and local community.

All of our animals have access to fresh air and clover rich pastures where they enjoy a variety of clovers and herbs at their nutritional peak.

Through the generations, our family established the Lynchmead Herd of Pedigree Dairy Cows who produce milk that is supplied across the UK.

In 2007, we opened Puxton Park to showcase and educate the public on the importance of farming in the UK.

Ed Champion

I’m the shepherd here at Puxton Park Estate. I’ve worked for the Mead Family for 15+years. All of our lamb comes from our hardy flock of cross-bred sheep. The breeds we've chosen make the most of our abundant Somerset pastures, thriving on a diet of fresh grass and herbs.

Growing slowly, in a stress free environment, we rear our animals to the highest welfare standard possible and because of this, our beef and lamb not only tastes better but is loaded full of omega 3, vitamins and minerals, vital for a healthy diet.
